One of the Priests in the catholic Diocese of Zaria, Rev. Fr. Matthew Akut whose faculty of Priesthood was seized on 26th September, 2015 have been restored to him on Saturday 18th June, 2016 during the Priestly ordination of seven deacons.
Rev. Fr. Matthew Akut apologized to His Lordship, Most Rev. (Dr.) George Jonathan Dodo, priests and the faithful people of Zaria Diocese for his Facebook post saying negative things about the Bishop and the Diocese and then his sudden disappearance to South Africa in October, 2016.
The chairman of the Diocesan Laity Council, Sir. David Bulus Barau represented by his Vice Chairman, Sir. Vincent Jatau and Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Isek pleaded with Bishop Dodo to pardon Fr. Akut and restore his faculty of Priesthood to him.
However, the Bishop in turn responded by saying that he has forgiven his son (Fr. Akut) and his faculty is restored to him with effect from 18th June, 2016. The Bishop gave Fr. Akut the liberty to call on any priest to install his vestment. In response, Fr. Akut called upon Rev. Fr. Michael Kagarko and Rev. Fr. Cletus Dauya who he defamed alongside the Bishop in his Facebook post.
It was a moment of joy and happiness as the two priest, Fr. Kagarko and Fr. Dauya accepted and installed the vestment on him with hugs as a sign of peace, love and forgiveness. Fr. Akut thanked Bishop Dodo for accepting him back and restoring his Priesthood faculty to him.
